Snap, Crackle & Pop!
Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve loved nail polish…. & picking it off! I remember my very first nail polish I ever owned was a bright red peel off polish in a plastic bottle by the Barbie brand. I would paint it on as best as I could, wait for it to dry then peel it off and do it all over again :) The peelings all over my bedroom must have sent my mother insane!
In my early teens, I thought I would give black nail polish a go. I went to the shops and bought some, the whole time thinking “Oh my god, I hope I don’t look gothic!” ….I went home, painted my nails and never looked back! I was in love.
Not too long after falling head over heels for black polish, I came across something amazing. Crackle nail polish! I didn’t buy any that day and went years thinking about it. The other day I was in the nail polish isle in Gloss Cosmetics and Accessries and what do I see but BYS brand crackle nail polish! I picked up a bottle of cracked finish in black for $4.95 and thought it would look fantastic with my BYS Rebel Red polish ($3.95) as the base coat.

All I needed to do was paint my base coat, which was Rebel Red and just before it dried I painted a coat of Cracked Finish Black. If you paint the Cracked finish on dried polish it wont work, it needs to be slightly wet. As the polish dries, you begin to see little cracks forming, after a few minutes they get bigger and you can see your base coat. I gave my nails about 10 minutes to let the cracks fully form and dry properly. (I’m paranoid about ruining the finish) After the polish dried, I applied a clear top coat which really made the colours stand out more..
I love the effect of cracked nail polish and will definitely be trying other colours. My toes have a BYS French White ($3.95) base coat with the black cracked finish and it looks awesome with the contrast! I think everyone should try it out and see for yourself! :)
I don’t think i’ll pick this one off just yet.. xx
